Man Killed In One-Vehicle Crash Near Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a single vehicle crash that killed a 30-year-old near Uptown Charlotte early Monday morning.

Officers responded to NC Music Factory Boulevard, off of North Graham Street, around 2:45 a.m. in reference to a single-motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers found a 2016 Ford F150 that was overturned and off the roadway to the right of the eastbound travel lanes. The driver of the F150, identified Mario Fernando Juarez, was located at the scene and pronounced dead by Medic. There were no other passengers in the F150.

Police said through an investigation it was revealed that Juarez was operating the Ford F150 traveling eastbound on NC Music Factory Blvd when the Ford traveled off the roadway to the right as it entered a slight left-hand curve. When the Ford exited the roadway, it struck a light pole and a utility pole a short distance further to the east. After hitting both poles, the Ford continued east and subsequently struck an end-cap to a steel guardrail. When the Ford struck the guardrail, it overturned onto its roof, ejecting Juarez from the vehicle.

Impairment and speed are contributing factors to this crash, according to Charlotte police. Juarez was also not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

No other motor vehicles are believed to be were involved, according to officials. The investigation into this collision is active and ongoing.
